5 Design Resources For Your Remodel
/Imagining your dream home comes easier for some people than it does for others. Some people just aren't design minded. Others can't decide on all the wonderful designs that they love. This can be a huge hurdle for starting your remodel or add-on to your home.
Luckily, there are resources available for design whether you know what you want or need the inspiration to find it. Having these resources pre-conceived and ready helps us at Crosspoint when we come in as the contractor to make those design come to life. It’s not necessary to have the details ready to get started so don’t feel overwhelmed! We've worked with clients that have used all kinds of resources and ideas at every stage. We thought it might be good to pass along a few of our favorite and most used resources.
Check out these 5 design resources below. We love hearing from you, so leave a comment telling us your favorite design resource.
A professional - A professional architect and/or designer is the best and most consolidated resource to use. They have the training, experience, passion, and research to help you make your project perfect. If you don't have one then we are happy to recommend someone to you. One that we have worked with is Susannah Petrounov at Petrounov Studio (Learn more on her website). You can email her directly at susannah@petrounovstudio.com.
Houzz.com - Whether on the computer or iPhone app, this is almost always my first resources for design and remodel ideas. You can search for floor plans, products and even professionals (Check out our page on Houzz). It is easy to get lost flipping through photos of our favorite styles.
Pinterest - This social media app lets you look at specific boards related to the style, design, and color you are looking for. One of the benefits here is following the designs of friends and others that can mimic your style.
HGTV - We can all get lost for hours watching renovation and real estate shows. This cable TV network has a ton of great resources beyond the binge-able shows to watch on the DVR. Check out HGTV.com for great articles, lists, and pictures.
Better Homes and Gardens - The magazine and website have great articles on more than just design and remodeling. Recipes and party ideas can help get you through many of the things you need to get done at home.
